My Prayer for PEACE

My prayer for peace

My prayer for peace is for myself.

A prayer to end this war I have waged

against myself for so many years.

My plea is that my mind will lay down

the weapons used against my body

and my body will stop its endless retaliation.

Perhaps with peace,

the armor I wear can fall to the ground

and my spirit can

let go of the acts of violence

I commit against myself

for the stories, and sins of my past.

My spirit, a prisoner of this war

longs for a cease fire,

so that I can come home to myself.

Yes, that is my petition…for inner peace.

I  am waving the white flag

I surrender.
